Location
For a small 7-square-mile island, there’s a surprising variety of things to do and see.
Plus, everything you want is nearby! The closest place to eat, which is just a stone's throw away from Fortress “J” is Firefly Estate. The open-air restaurant has an excellent reputation for serving modern, locally sourced Caribbean cuisine for breakfast, lunch and dinner with a view of the Caribbean Sea. The estate gardens provide key ingredients for the dishes. Seasonal barbecue and Creole events are featured as well.
Another close-by option is The Spring Hotel. Their remodelled restaurant and bar are open to visitors for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, serving fresh local dishes deliciously prepared by their wonderful chef. And, for something a little different, try their English-style afternoon tea, served in the drawing room overlooking the bay far below (reservations required).
Fortress “J” is in Spring which is Bequia's most favourable residential area. Spring is well established as the prime international residential area. Residents enjoy peace, calm and security.
Bequia has a typical Caribbean climate – bags of sunshine, around 80 degrees year-round with gentle cooling sea breeze. Like the other islands, there are tropical rain showers – but these generally last just a few minutes.
If you think that there won’t be much to do on a tiny Caribbean Island, besides swinging in a hammock with a good book? Well, think again!
Bequia (pronounced Bek-way or better still Bek-wee) is the undiscovered paradise island of your dreams, the Caribbean of 30 years ago. It’s hard to believe that this almost secret destination exists in the modern world, but it does.
Although Bequia is the second largest of the 32 Grenadine islands, it is only 7 square miles in size. To put it into context, London’s Heathrow Airport is slightly bigger.
Isolated enough to remain relatively unspoiled, yet lively enough to be stimulating and entertaining, Bequia provides a blend of the old and new that many find perfect. Be warned, many visitors are bitten by the Bequia bug and return time and time again!
We have compiled several places for you to visit. Bear in mind that some places may be closed due to the season. Enjoy!

The BEACH
